Cargas Energy (Lancaster, PA) targets small-to-mid-sized propane, heating-oil, and HVAC companies that want an all-in-one delivery and back-office platform to grow into. If you are an independent dealer with roughly 100–800 customers and a handful of trucks, you may find Cargas Energy is more platform — and more cost — than you need. This page is an honest comparison, including where Cargas Energy is genuinely the better choice.
What Cargas Energy costs
Cargas Energy is quote-based. Its own pricing page explains that cost depends on the number of users, trucks and service vans, modules, integrations, and implementation scope — a one-time software list price per user for core modules, plus fees for advanced modules and one-time per-vehicle hardware.
What FillDesk Pro does differently
FillDesk Pro is a one-time license, not a subscription: $999 for the delivery platform (or $1,499 with basic HVAC) plus a flat $149/year for hosting and compliance updates — no per-user or per-truck fees. The driver app is offline-first and runs as a web app on any phone, so there is no App Store fee and no dead-zone downtime. And your data is isolated to your account and exportable to CSV or JSON any time — you own it, you are not renting access to it.
Billing and invoicing, customer database, dispatch, routing and scheduling, work orders, delivery forecasting, inventory control, tank monitoring, mobile access, and third-party integrations.

When Cargas Energy is the right choice
If you are scaling past a couple dozen employees, want a single vendor for fuel and service, and can absorb per-user pricing plus a paid onboarding project, Cargas Energy is a credible fit. We would rather send you to the right tool than sell you the wrong one. And FillDesk Pro is deliberately narrow: FillDesk Pro is deliberately focused on delivery, forecasting, and compliance for small dealers. It does not currently include advance-purchase or capped-price fuel plans, level monthly even-payment plans, automated fuel-excise tax calculation or excise-return exports, a homeowner web login, or advanced receivables tools such as automated late-fee assessment and end-of-day driver cash totals. If those are central to how you operate, a heavier platform may serve you better — and during a pilot we will tell you honestly if that is the case. If those capabilities are core to how you run, Cargas Energy or another heavier platform is likely the better fit — and during a free pilot we will tell you so directly.
Pilot program
The fair way to compare software is to run it. FillDesk Pro's three-month pilot puts the real product on your real routes, free, with nothing owed until you decide. Related: will-call operations, one-time pricing.
